Australia's High Commissioner to Solomon Islands Dr Lachie Strahan and Operations Manager for World Vision Solomon Islands Shupayi Mpunga today handed over 500 new hygiene kits to the National Disaster Management Office (NDMO).

The hygiene kits, funded by the Australian Government and delivered through World Vision’s Community Channels of Hope program, will be used by the NDMO for people in quarantine.

The hygiene kits will assist Solomon Islands’ #COVID19 preparedness and response. Part of that response is ensuring people who are in quarantine have their basic needs met.

"Australia has been supporting Solomon Islands every step of the way through our direct support to the Ministry of Health and the World Health Organisation," the Australian High Commission office said in a brief statement.

"We will continue to work closely with other countries, our local development partners, and the Solomon Islands Government, to ensure our current and future assistance is coordinated and delivered where it is needed."
