The recently opened hospital in Tetere has brought a wave of happiness to the people of Tetere and neighboring villages.
With the fully equipped hospital, some mothers have voiced their joy in having a hospital accessible to mothers within their area of Guadalcanal. "Seeing that i am pregnant, I wouldn't have to spend so much money to go to town for medical attention," stated Mrs. Mary Filotea.Mr. Salani, Guadalcanal Premier, in his own words stated that 'this hospital is a big achievement for our province. We are very happy with the scanning facilities, some of which the national referral hospital do not have, that attends to the needs of women'.
The hospital is funded by volunteer groups from Italy. Dr. Pierre from Italy stated that the mini hospital is a very important project to them and also to the people of Solomon Islands.
With cervical cancer rated high in the Solomon Islands, this hospital would mean women could access health services that could prevent them from developing cervical cancer.
